Pawan Kalyan's Heroine goes to Hollywood

After her much-talked about Telugu debut opposite actor Pawan Kalyan failed at the Box Office, former Miss India, Sarah Jane Dias didn't sit and mope around. Instead, she took a ticket to Hollywood!

Exactly 25 months ago, Sarah Jane Dias was the toast of Tollywood. She was debuting as Pawan Kalyan's leading lady in the then soon-to-release, Panjaa. But her Tollywood dream soon came undone as the movie turned out to be a dud and Sarah was written off as another beauty queen who couldn't quite make the cut. The actress however, has fond memories of her time in Telugu cinema.

"I thoroughly enjoyed working in Hyderabad. The kind of passion people have for their cinema is incredible and my first experience of Telugu cinema was wonderful. I was flattered that people accepted me, and given a chance, I would love to work in another Telugu film soon," remarks the actress.

On hindsight though, it could be argued that her career took off after her not-so-successful Tollywood debut. She has starred in three Hindi films besides completing her maiden international venture. "Well, soon after Panjaa,my career took off. I started getting Bollywood offers. I had a lot of things to do, not just acting, I took up music as my career, it made me even more busy," says Sarah, who is playing a photographer in the independent film, Angry Indian Goddesses, being directed by acclaimed filmmaker, Pan Nalin.

Nalin has earlier directed award winning films like Samsara and Valley of Flowers. Sarah is playing one of the three leads in the film about women who take up cudgels against the issues they face. Sandhya Mridul and Anushka Manchanda are also acting in the movie being billed as a "light-hearted female buddy film."

"We have tried to deal with contemporary issues relating to women without being preachy," shares the actress. With an all women cast, the shooting was a lot of fun, adds Sarah. "We used to get up together and sleep at the same time. There would be different music emanating from different rooms — someone would listen to jazz, someone to hip hop. Having breakfast, lunch, and dinner with all my co-stars, it was like a small family outing," she says.
