Richa Gangopadhyay’s days of second-lead roles are over. Sources say that after being paired opposite Nagarjuna in his action-entertainer 'Bhai', the Delhi girl is eyeing only lead roles.
“Richa has become extremely choosy. She has turned down many good offers including one with Balakrishna directed by Boyapati Sreenu and another with Vishnu Manchu titled 'Doosukeltha' even though the latter had quoted a fancy price to Richa,” says a source, “Richa also turned down Pawan Kalyan’s film 'Attarintiki Daredi' and then the makers roped in Pranitha. It was the same with Venkatesh’s 'Shadow' where Taapsee replaced her.”
When contacted, the actor says, “Everyone has their reasons for selecting certain projects over others. I have always prioritised quality over quantity and only give my ‘yes’ to a film if all the factors tally on my checklist. This year I have decided to take it slow so that I can focus on myself, as I have not had the opportunity with simultaneous film shoots.”
She adds, “After 'Mirchi' I signed Bhai and I am content with my choice. Besides Balakrishna’s and Vishnu’s films, I have heard many other scripts, which I rejected after just 20-minute narrations. People make assumptions before any confirmation which is unfair to an artiste. I have my standards which I stick to, which is not just restricted to any hero or director.”
