The announcement of the final nominees for the prestigious South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) has created quite a buzz in tinsel town. With the glitzy finale slated for September 12 and 13 in the UAE, the countdown has begun.
'Gabbar Singh' (Telugu), 'Thuppakki' (Tamil), 'Addhuri' (Kannada) and 'Spirit' (Malayalam) are leading in most of the popular categories. The nominations have been selected by an elite panel at SIIMA and the winners will be chosen by an online voting system.
Telugu blockbuster 'Gabbar Singh', directed by Harish Shankar and starring Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan, has been nominated in 13 categories including best actor and actress.
Harish says, "'Gabbar Singh' has been nominated in almost every popular category. We are hoping for a clean sweep."
Shruti Haasan, excitedly shares, "It’s a real honour for me. I’m extremely happy for the entire team and appreciate the admiration it continues to receive."
Awards will be given away in 19 different categories in each of the four South Indian languages, at a star-studded affair attended by stalwarts from all the four film industries.
