The whole of Film Nagar is celebrating the presence of two Telugu directors N Shankar and CV Reddy in the jury of a screening committee that picks up India's entry into nominations for Oscar's Best Foreign Film. But there is a darker side for these celebrations too.
The presence of director N Shankar on the screening committee is creating many doubts for people, and they say he will not allow the selection of either Midhunam or Adi Shankara to get selected as an entry into Oscar nominations. This has a reason. N Shankar is a staunch Telangana activist who is responsible for the creation of Telangana film chamber and Telangana directors association. Ever since Congress announced that they are going to bifurcate AP, Shankar is trying hard to get separated identity for Telugu movies as Telangana movies and accused that Andhra people have insulted Telangana movies, their moviemakers and technicians.
With this stuff happening around, will Shankar allow films made by Andhra based makers Tanikella Bharani and JK Bharavi to enter into Oscar race is a big question. But many insiders who know Shankar stressed that the director is opposing some suppressers of T-movies but not Andhra directors and their movies. Let us see.
