Remember Kanika Tiwari who played Hrithik Roshan’s sister in the 2012 hit 'Agneepath'? She is all set for her Tollywood debut as the female lead in the upcoming romantic drama 'Boy Meets Girl'.

Director Vasanth says, “I was looking for a cute and innocent face to play the female lead in my film. After watching 'Agneepath' I thought that she would fit the bill. I approached her through a Mumbai agency and went to Bhopal to narrate the story to her. Since this a story about the first romance between two teenagers, her features were perfect. I had approached her when she was 16 and now she is 18.”

Talking about the film’s shooting, he says, “Kanika has a high grasping power. Though she doesn’t know Telugu, she would learn her dialogues quickly. I used to give her the dialogues a day before the shoot and she would be thoroughly prepared the next day.”

Though the producer-director is not willing to talk remuneration, he says, “I can’t reveal the details, but she is the highest paid in our crew considering her B-town roots. She is our lucky mascot.”

A source close to the actor says, “She was 15 when she was offered the role to play Hrithik’s sister in 'Agneepath'. Her mother runs a beauty parlour and her aunt is a TV actress. After getting to know that the makers were hunting for a fresh face for the film, they sent Kanika’s pictures. Director Karan Johar was quite impressed with her looks and after a very short audition he zeroed in on Kanika. They had also arranged for a two-month workshop to groom her acting skills.”

While Kanika is awaiting the release of her Telugu debut, she has acted in a Tamil film, Avikumar, which is yet to be released. Also, she is back to Bollywood where she has been part of Amisha Patel’s maiden production Desi Magic and is currently shooting in Italy.
