Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and Padma Vibhushan recipient Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao has been ailing from cancer and this is old news. The latest is that the 90-year-old has undergone abdominal surgery on the night of October 19 (the same day on which he called for a press conference).
The surgery was done by specialists at KIMS hospital and according to reliable sources, the operation went smoothly.
And a fresh health bulletin has been released by Akkineni clan. Going by it, ANR is recuperating quickly. The health bulletin says, 'Over the last couple of days, he has been comfortable, stable, and gradually recovering. Dr. ANR's heart condition is also satisfactory. Today, he was out of bed and comfortably walked a 100 yards. Small amounts of fluids are being taken orally, and he is likely to be shifted to the room in a day or two.'
Family members are accompanying him constantly and have a polite request to make. They appeal to all well wishers to refrain from visiting him in the hospital and give him a chance for a speedy recovery.
