Anushka Sharma too costly for Tollywood? | Anushka Sharma in Mahesh, NTR, Allu Arjun Movies

Ever since Band Baaja Baaraat changed her fortunes in Bollywood, Anushka Sharma has been on the radar of mana Tollywood filmmakers, who are known for their penchant to import Mumbai actresses for local projects. It's no wonder then that ace filmmakers in Tollywood have been trying very hard, albeit unsuccessfully, to rope in the leggy lass for a slew of upcoming ventures.

It is reliably learnt that producers of director Harish Shankar's next film starring Allu Arjun were keen on signing up Anushka to play the lead. "The filmmakers approached the actress, but things did not work out as there was an issue with the price and dates," shares a member of the film's casting crew.

Apparently, that wasn't the only Telugu film pitched to Anushka. The makers of Mahesh Babu's next film, Aagadu sought to rope her in, but had to look for other options as things did not materialise. And then again, Anushka was the first choice for the untitled NTR Jr-starrer on the anvil. But in both cases, it is said that the actress' exorbitant price tag proved to be a deterrent.

"It seems like every big filmmaker wants Anushka Sharma in his project, but like with other Bollywood actresses, including Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, the negotiations fail at the mention of the pay cheques. These Bollywood actresses are said to quote three times more than what a top Tollywood actress like Samantha, Kajal or Tamannaah would charge," shares a casting manager, who was a part of negotiations for Anushka recently.

So, will Anushka finally bite the Tollywood bait? Or will she continue to play hard to get till Tollywood shells out the moolah? Only time will tell.
