Dhoom 3 First Week Box Office Collections

Bollywood movie Dhoom 3 has turned out to be the biggest money spinner of the year 2013. The Vijay Krishna Acharya-directed film has concluded the first week with a historic collection at the Indian Box Office. The action thriller has smashed all previous records including that of recent Blockbusters Chennai Express and Krrish 3.

But it has just missed to surpass Rs 200 crore mark. In seven days, fifth highest grosser of all time and the third highest grosser of 2013. The Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif starrer set new benchmark by releasing in 4500 screens in the domestic market on December 20.

Having soared up viewers' curiosity and expectations to the sky high, Dhoom 3 recorded a huge amount of advance ticket booking for the first weekend. The movie opened to an earth-shattering response at the Indian Box Office on Friday. Dhoom 3 registered an average of 95% to 100%
occupancy at both single screens and multiplexes on its opening day. Despite getting positive word from critics and viewers, the movie showed dip in its business on Saturday and that was due to busy working day for offices and colleges. However, it witnessed escalation in its figures on Sunday. The film collected Rs 107.61 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend.

The Aditya Chopra-produced film continued keep the cash registers ringing at the ticket counters even on weekdays. The business of Dhoom 3 dropped by around 30% on Monday, but when compared to other biggies' films, it was a record collection. It maintained rock-steady throughout the week. The film was expected to do well on Wednesday, a Christmas holiday.


The movie had a jump, but it was not upto the expected mark. Dhoom 3 has collected Rs 88.37 crores nett at the Indian Box Office on the weekdays, taking its 7-day domestic total to Rs 195.98 crores nett, which is the highest ever collection made by a Bollywood film the first week. In this total collection, Rs 10.31 crores is coming from its Telugu and Tamil versions. Its breakup is Rs 36.22 cr on Fri, Rs 33.36 cr on Sat, Rs 38.03 cr on Sun, Rs 21.71 cr on Mon, Rs 20.14 cr on Tue, Rs 25.52 cr on Wed and Rs 21 cr on Thu.

In just seven days, Dhoom 3 has beaten life-time collection record of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which had raked in Rs 188.57 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in its complete run in theatres. It has become third highest grosser of 2013. Having missed to beat Ek Tha Tiger life-time record (Rs 199.50 crores nett), the movie has also become the fifth all-time highest grosser Hindi cinema.
