Shah Rukh or Salman? Who is the biggest grosser of them all? Ranbir or Deepika? Who is the fastest rising star of Bollywood? Is there any challenge to AR Rahman’s supremacy in the music hall of fame? Can Chetan Bhagat hold his own against Amish Tripathi? Now that Sachin Tendulkar has walked off into the sunset, who will replace him as topdog in the sporting world? MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli or someone else?
You will find answers to some of these questions by mid-December, when Forbes India publishes its second edition of India’s 100 Most Influential Celebrities—picked from the world of entertainment.
In India, entertainment is usually conflated with Bollywood, and sure enough, our list will reflect this bias towards film entertainment in Hindi and some of the regional languages, with actors, singers, producers, and music directors, among others, adorning the list. In recent years, the small screen is also creating its bunch of stars and throwing up big money for actors and serial makers. You will also find them on our Celeb List.
But before we publish our final list of 100 Celebs, we are happy to publish our long list from which the final 100 of India’s most Influential Celebrities who make a living from entertainment will be chosen. Take a look and make a bet with yourself on who will make the final cut.
And it’s not all about money, honey. Not all entertainment professions throw up the same kind of money, and so a critical balancing factor is fame. Our Celebrity 100, much like the Forbes, US, Celeb list, counts not only money, but fame as well.
Forbes India has tied up with a whole battery of partners to generate this Celebrity 100 list. Our principal data partners for Celebrity 100 List of 2013 are LexisNexis®, Carving Dreams, Galatta, TAM-Eikona and Percept Talent Management.
At the same time indiantelevision.com, tellychakkar.com, radioandmusic.com and Nielsen BookScan have lent enormous support to this list. To help raise the bar on compliance and rigour in the methodology, Ernst & Young Pvt. Ltd is working with us as our process advisors.
But you should not feel left out of the process, too. You can see below the full list of 400 celebrities who are being considered for the final 100, and if you want to suggest additions or deletions please mail us at feedback.forbesindia@network18online.com before November 30, 2013.
On December 13 of this year the final list and a copy of Forbes India’s special Celeb edition will be in your hands.
