With just a day pending for Ram Charan's prestigious Bollywood debut to hit screens worldwide, some audiences are actually worried if there is mood for 'Thoofan' in the first place in Andhra Pradesh. Apart from the political unrest, the dirty politics that are being played already are leaving no scope for any miracle to happen.
September 6th happens to be the mega date for the release of Ram Charan's Zanjeer/Thoofan across the world. There are no issues for smooth run of either Zanjeer or Thoofan in overseas, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Kerala or any other Bollywood territory. But what is worrying this storm is the political tsunami that gripped the state ever since the decision of bifurcation was announced by Congress party.
Already at places like Vijayanagaram and West Godavari in Seemandhra, people have burnt the promotional material of Thoofan, indicating that those places will be worst hit if the film actually releases. From last two days, Eluru town is completely shut down including movie theatres. Demanding the resignation of Chiranjeevi, Seemandhra people want to create pressure on him by blocking the release of Thoofan. Irrespective of any pleas from Ram Charan or Chiru, these agitators have already shown their anger on promotional posters and cut-outs. At no theatre, signs of erecting large cut-outs of Charan related to Thoofan could be seen for now.
Coming to Telangana region, OU JAC students demanded the ban of this movie across the region as Chiranjeevi is advocating Union Territory status for Hyderabad. They say that only by suppressing movie business of Chiru's family, they could actually control the union minister's moves in Delhi, a sarcastic idea indeed. Some fans may actually welcome the release of this big budgeted extravaganza, but people with political back links are not at all interested to see Thoofan getting shackled in agitations.
Cine observers however quip that regardless of what agitators do to Thoofan, except local distributors none are going to lose. 'Charan got his remuneration already, so are producers who have sold out the flick. What is the point in stopping the movie now? Who is going to lose?'
But anyway it is clearly visible that there is no 'mood' for Thoofan at the moment though 1000+ screens in Nizam, Andhra and Ceded are already booked for the screening, while in Hyderabad city the movie is releasing in 100+ theatres. Come September 6th, we will find out what are going to do with Thoofan!
