Hit and Flop Heroes of 2013 | Hits and Flops of TFI | Tollywood Hits & Flop Movies in 2013

It could go down as one of the worst years for T-town top 10 stars, since most of them delivered super flops and dented their positions. Barring remarkable achievements by two stars Pawan and Prabhas, who came to the rescue of depleting star system, as Pawan became the uncrowned king of T-town with highest grosser, while Prabhas jumped into the top-5 league with career-best grosser 'Mirchi' (45 crores) and proved that he could give other big stars a run for their money.

With superstar Mahesh just scoring an average grosser 'Seethamma' which established overseas record by grossing Rs.10 crore but failed to create ripples in Andhra Pradesh. Another hot contender for the top slot, jr NTR managed one hit 'Badshah' but lost all his credibility with a debacle like 'Ramayya Vathayya' which is counted as worst flop of his career as it just managed to 18 crores, lowest than his earlier super flop 'Shakti' and his leanings towards YSRC, could further damage his career.

Similarly, Ram Charan who managed a hit with Nayak, delivered biggest flop of his career 'Toofan', which clocked just 8 crores, much less than his last flop Orange 18 crores. It's much worse scenario for his colleagues like Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja, Gopichand, Naga Chaitanya, Sunil and Ram who couldn't even ensure good openings and suspended the 'old-fashioned' belief that star power is enough to pull in crowds, but 2013 busted this myth and put the 'bankability' of these stars under shadow. Even though, Balakrishna had no release, but he lost his standing long back and only a blockbuster, can alter his position, otherwise he will slide down much further. However, the silver lining is emergence of Nitin to the top 10 with biggest grosser 'Gundejari.. and other lessor-known actors like Sudhir Babu (Prema Katha Chitram), Nikhil (Swamy Ra Ra) Sandeep Kishan (Venkatadri Express), Prince (Bustop) tasting success but unfortunately Sudhir and Prince erased their new-found success with subsequent duds like 'Aadu Mogadra Bujji' and 'Bunny and Cheryy'.

Analysing the poor collections for 50-plus stars like Nagarjuna, Venkatesh who delivered biggest flops of their careers like 'Greekuveerudu' and 'Masala' and along with Balakrishna, have these stars have to re-draw their working strategy or its high time for them to do matured roles and do some of multi-starrers instead of solo stuff. Even the careers of Ravi Teja and Sunil had been hit, since big producers and directors, are unwilling to sign them up and both are working with debutants and not-so-happening directors like Uday Sankar and Tanikella Bharani and Ram has become a spent force after duds like 'ongole gitta' and 'masala'.

Apparently, 2014 would be crucial for two specific reasons- On one hand, fans and trade circles, would be witnessing the most crucial event, whether Mahesh Babu would be able to unseat T-town 'Badshah' Pawan Kalyan in Jaunary and can Jr NTR and Ram Charan make a strong comeback- On the other, waning charm of established stars, observers would watch, the emergence of more young actors and reach the center stage and reduce the dominance of star families in T-town.
