Though she was introduced to the Telugu film industry as the daughter of Mohan Babu, she earned recognition of herself first as a producer… and later playing a negative role in ‘Anaganagaa Oka Dheerudu’. In that film she played a sorceress. 

Later she played in many films like Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Dongalamutha’, in her own film ‘Oo Kodathara Ulikki Padatharaa’ and Manaritnam’s film ‘Kadali’ but could not get a break as an actress, despite giving good performance in many films. For that matter, she had produced a film like ‘Gundello Godaari’, but that film too had failed to shake the Box Office.

Though Lakshmi Manchu had produced several films one after the other, she took a considerable gap after producing the film ‘Gundello Godaari’. Now, she is planning to produce another film on her own. That film is based on a Woman Warrior (Veera Naari) of Rayalaseema region and the story would have a historical backdrop. 

It is learnt that Lakshmi is planning to play the title role in the movie. She is making efforts to produce the film which would remain prestigious in the Telugu film industry. She desires that the woman warrior’s character would earn her good recognition and the film would become a commercial success too.
