For Indians, especially for Telugus, Dasara means Navratri! They used to have a small toy/statue collection at home and share sweets with one another. On the contrary, all cinema theatres used to be packed with crowds. But this Dasara, all this hangama is just missing! All family members, who used to congregate at one place, after having their lunch or snacks, go for an evening film show with joy. At least four to five big heroes films used to hit the screens and all the fans simply could enjoy the evening hours of the film. But all this entertainment has probably come down.
No openings too…
When it is Dasara time, generally many film offices used to start their new movie ventures and on the other hand, many film recording theatres would be occupied with constant tasks. The entire Film Nagar would remain noisy. But this year probably sees the waning of the fun and entertainment. Just two films, two comedian turned heroes films were released. The ‘Bhai’ audio release function, which was postponed long ago was celebrated and the ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ thanks-giving meet was held to give a small relief to the Telugu fans.
Where are the new film releases?
For the release of Telugu films, in a calendar year, there are 3 good times also considered appropriate for the movie release. Among them, the first one is Sankranti. The Second one is during summer vacation. The third, Dasara comes in the second half of the year, and it is an important festive season considered good for the film release. Especially during Dasara, at least five to six films would be ready for release including the dubbing and small budget films. This time, much awaited movies like ‘Attarintiki Daredi and Ramayya Vastavayya’, were released, much earlier than Dasara. We could consider those as the only two films released for Dasara Holidays. All the other films have perhaps ignored the Dasara holidays!
Is it because of Seemandhra movement?
Many are blaming the Seemandhra movement for the lost spirit towards the movie release. Because of the Seemandhra movement, all the money failed to circulate properly and remained stagnated. As there is no money circulation, no one is coming forward to launch new films. Because of the electricity strike, only two shows are getting screened in some places. Probably, owing to the above reasons, it could be said that new films like ‘Yevadu, Bhai, Doosukeltha, and Masaalaa have postponed their releases, though they were planned earlier for Dasara release.
