A new discussion has begun in political circles on whether the Seemandhra leaders who have votes in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana could contest the next general elections in their region after the division of state.
Interestingly, Actor-turned-Politicians Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna have their votes in Hyderabad. A debate has been going on if these Seemandhra leaders can contest elections only transfering their votes to the soon-to-formed new AP state?!
Former Central Election Commissioner KJ Rao have clarified the doubt by saying both Chiru and Balayya could contest from Seemandhra despite being voters of Hyderabad as the city is going to be joint capital for both Telangana and new AP state for a period of 10 years. He, however, clarified that the Seemandhra leaders in Hyderabad have to transfer their votes to new AP state after these 10 years.
On the other hand, Telangana leaders made it clear Seemandhra people are free to stay in Hyderabad even after the 10 years joint capital period but they will no more be treated as citizens of 'T' as they willn't be voters of the state.
