There’s a buzz going around town regarding the upcoming Telugu film 'Ameerpet Lo'. Set against the backdrop of Ameerpet, the film is being made by a group of youngsters, primarily techies, highlighting the milieu of the area.
A hotbed for techies and budding professional students, Ameerpet has garnered the sobriquet of USA — United States of Ameerpet. It’s also the first choice of students and professionals who arrive in the city.
This is what prompted Srikanth, a former Infosys employee, to quit his job and make a film against this backdrop. An excited Srikanth, aka Sri, who makes his acting and directorial debut, shares, “After completing engineering in 2005, I had landed up in Ameerpet and did a few software courses while living in the hostels here. I stayed here even after bagging an IT job. I couldn’t leave the place as I shared a great bond with it.”
Sri, who has always been passionate about film-making, adds, “The film deals with the mind-sets of the youth who come to the city with various ambitions and how they change with many distractions. Ameerpet Lo focuses on youths, their careers and love lives. The lead role is mainly inspired from my life. Also, I’m taking care that majority of scenes are close to real life, either mine or my friends’.”
“I am going with all fresh faces as I believe in my script. The expected budget of the film is around Rs 1.6 crore. Most of the film is shot in Ameerpet and other locales of Hyderabad. Hitec City also holds prominence in the story,” he adds.
