Tollywood has been rocked with a fresh scandal with actor Udayabhanu accusing the makers of her forthcoming film 'Madhumati' of releasing “morphed” pictures of her.
While the production house denies that the pictures were morphed, sources close to Bhanu said that the makers released morphed pictures of the actor as publicity stills but later withdrew them after she complained.
With this and other allegations, shooting of the Tamil-Telugu bilingual film has come to a halt.
“The shooting of 'Madhumati' has been a bad experience. Forget about remunerations to the cast, the producers haven’t even arranged for basic needs like food, accommodation and transport facilities. Lead villain Satish had to bear his own expenses and the producers didn’t even arrange a car for hero of the film Vishnu Priyan. He had to come on a bike to the sets, says a source from the unit.
“While shooting in a few locales at Bheemavaram, there was no electricity, the cast had to bathe with a torchlight. The unit didn’t even have a still photographer,” he adds.
Another source close to the actor says, “Bhanu had allotted 20 days but since they didn’t pay the hero, he wasn’t available. The makers then tried to shoot a song with Bhanu and the photograph of the hero. But Bhanu declined to do so.”
When contacted, Bhanu says, “Yes, I’ve had a fallout with the makers of 'Madhumati'. We are trying to sort out the issues through talks. I’ve no issue related to money as I took up this project with passion. I still believe this is my film. I worked hard on the film and hope that it is a hit.”
She, however, adds that she will approach the Film Chamber and Movie Artistes’ Association if things do not fall in place. “I still believe director Sreedhar will reconcile and correct his mistakes. Perhaps he was misled by some of his close aides,” she says.
Production house clarifies
The film 'Madhumati' is being produced by Rani Sreedhar, and her husband Raj Sreedhar is the director of the film.
On the uproar over the morphed pictures, he clarifies, “The photos are genuine, we have all the original photos with us. Problem started when Udayabhanu didn’t allot proper dates and started demanding a high-profile costume designer and choreographer of her own choice which surpassed our budget. Everything went well until we began shooting of the songs. Suddenly, she raised demands which the makers couldn’t meet.”
‘We hope she will return’
Udayabhanu has not been supportive in adjusting her dates which forced us to stall the shooting of two songs. We hope she will return and we can shoot the remaining songs. If she doesn’t come back, I can’t stop my film. I have no option but to go ahead with another actress. - Director Raj Sreedhar
